Please join us for the  monthly UCLA Anderson Alumni Networking Lunch in Downtown Los Angeles.

This month’s meeting will be on Friday August 31, 2012 where our guest speaker will be Matthew Pierce from the venture capital firm Originate.  Mr. Pierce will provide a presentation on interactive media titled, “Why Hollywood Must Change or Die – Silicon Beach and the Future of Interactive Media”.  Mr. Pierce has spent thirteen years in interactive, mobile, and digital media. After graduating from Stanford in 1999, he co-founded a company that used digital television signals to augment early stage location based services like e-911. He has since developed both content and strategy for numerous media companies from Disney and Warner Bros. to smaller studios focused on short form, mobile, and interactive programming.

Since graduating from UCLA Anderson, Mr. Pierce worked at the Boston Consulting Group and with the Digital Distribution team at Warner Bros. He is now the Vice President of Product Innovation at Originate, Inc. focusing on internal business development as well as investments in early-stage interactive media properties.

Originate is a value-added venture firm that places engineers, strategists, and designers into portfolio companies. Originate also works alongside Fortune 500 companies, building new, innovative products for mobile and web. Originate has over 80 employees worldwide, including 60 engineers in their Los Angeles, San Francisco, Stockholm, and Hangzhou offices.
 
The meetings will include brief introductions by attendees, presentation by guest speaker and group discussion. Our goal at these networking lunches are to, “Feed your mind, feed your stomach and feed your network!”
