Please join us in tasting the debut release of HIP TASTES wine from alum Courtney Cochran (UCLA ‘01, Anderson ‘05). A featured speaker at this year’s UCLA Alumni Day who has been profiled in Vogue and Business Week, Cochran was president of the Anderson Wine Club before founding the popular San Francisco event series HIP TASTES. Her first book, Hip Tastes: The Fresh Guide to Wine (Viking/Penguin) was awarded the Georges Duboeuf Wine Book of the Year prize, and she is currently working on a new book project. Called 60/30/8/2, her wine is a blend of Zinfandel (60%), Mourvedre (30%), Syrah (8%) and Petite Sirah (2%) and styled with an eye to pairing with a broad range of foods. The pop art-inspired label was designed by Amsterdam-based artist Mitchel Shernoff and highlights the gastronomic dexterity of the wine as well as the playful sensibility of HIP TASTES. This is Cochran’s first capsule collection, featuring Amador County fruit and made in partnership with Oakland’s Urban Legend Cellars. A certified sommelier (C Magazine called Cochran “San Francisco’s Most Wanted Wine Guru”), Cochran will pour 60/30/8/2 and four other wines that illustrate what she finds hottest in the glass this summer. Lights appetizers will be paired with the wines, and guests will have the option to purchase an allocation of wine after the event.
