About Professor Bob McCann:
Dr. Robert M. (Bob) McCann created, directs, and teaches the core management communication class at UCLA Anderson and is Associate Dean of Global Initiatives.

Dr. McCann's areas of teaching and research interest include leadership communication, intergroup communication, persuasive presenting, persuasion and influence, global leadership, intercultural communication, global executive development, and workplace ageism. To this end, he has been published in several major refereed communication journals and has won numerous research awards. Bob serves on the executive editorial board of the Journal of Asian Pacific Communication.

Dr. McCann also works with companies dealing with issues of age diversity in the multigenerational workplace. Bob's latest book, entitled Ageism at Work: The Role of Communication in a Changing Workplace, is coming out in mid 2012. The book will be published in Spanish, Catalan, and English.

Bob is a frequent media consultant in the areas of managerial communication, workplace ageism, and age diversified workplaces, most recently appearing on National Public Radio and in the US News and World Report, the Chicago Tribune, the New York Times, GQ, Esquire, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Capital Times, and the International Herald Tribune.

Prior to joining UCLA, Dr. McCann taught at the USC Marshall School of Business,
the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) and the Graduate School of the Thai Chamber of Commerce University.
Prior to his return to academics in the USA, Bob spent several years in the spirits’ (liquor) industry in Asia, where he lived for nearly 20 years. Bob also has a background in international banking (lending and trade finance), having held management positions in Karachi, London, and Los Angeles.

Dr. McCann has a PhD in Communications from UC Santa Barbara, an MA in Applied Linguistics from UCLA and a BA in International Studies from Emory.
