Robert D. Beyer (MBA '83) is Chairman of Chaparal Investments LLC, a private investment firm. Until 2009, he was Chief Executive Officer of the TCW Group, Inc., a global investment management firm with assets over $150 billion under management. Since his graduation from UCLA Anderson School, Bob has been involved in the management of large, diversified and global businesses with direct, senior‐level responsibility as a corporate executive and as a portfolio manager in various investment categories, including fixed income securities, structured products, and distressed and special situations portfolios and funds. He was also a founder and portfolio manager of the largest independent mezzanine fund primarily serving the leveraged buyout and recapitalization markets.
Bob is a director of two Fortune-100 companies, The Allstate Corporation (NYSE: ALL) and The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR). He is now in his third term as Chairman of the Board of Visitors at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He is a past chair and serves on the Board of Trustees of Harvard-Westlake School and on the Board of Councilors at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts & Sciences. Bob also serves as a member of the Board of Airport Commissioners of Los Angeles World Airports. He is an investor in and a member of the Advisory Board of The Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club. Bob's most recent gift named a term chair at UCLA Anderson which is now held by Antonio Bernardo (Robert D. Beyer '83 Term Chair in Management).
Bob received his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and his M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
