Robert S. Murley, MBA 1974
Business Leader and Hands-on Philanthropist
Murley is Chairman of Investment Banking in the Americas for Credit Suisse. He has spent his entire 35 year career with the firm. Over the years, he has played numerous roles including serving as head of the Chicago office, the Global Industrial and Services Group, the North American region and as a member of the Operating Committee of the firm and the Management Committee of the Investment Banking Division. He is also making his mark in philanthropy and has assumed many volunteer leadership roles. In addition to serving on the UCLA Anderson's Board of Visitors, Bob is a Trustee of Princeton University, Children's Memorial Hospital of Chicago, the Museum of Science of Industry and the Educational Testing Service. He is strongly of the view that one should devote time and leadership to philanthropic endeavors, not just provide financial support. "It is more gratifying to formulate the strategies and achieve the desired results. If you can motivate others to give of themselves and their resources, you can accomplish so much for causes that you have passion". Murley has been honored on several occasions for his wide ranging philanthropic involvement, most recently as the Volunteer Leader of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
