Joseph Potter, MBA 1987
Making a Difference in Children's Lives
Potter enjoyed great success in the finance industry, first at Dimensional Fund Advisors and later as vice president and institutional portfolio manager at Alliance Capital. But in 2000 he decided to pursue his first love, teaching. He returned to school to earn his teaching credential, and is currently at Rippowan Cisqua School in Bedford, N.Y., teaching middle school math while coaching football, basketball, and lacrosse. Joe is a member of the Brown University Athletics Hall of Fame and a former standout quarterback there. Recently, Joe was diagnosed with lung cancer, and has been successfully tackling the disease. Potter has inspired fellow UCLA Anderson alumni by having the fortitude to walk away from a lucrative career to follow a dream as he seeks to make a difference in children's lives and for his positive attitude in combatting cancer.
