Joanne Haase, MBA 1984
Established alumni infrastructure for UCLA Anderson
With her heartfelt belief in UCLA Anderson, Haase has always been an advocate and a perfect example of the invaluable role that alumni play in advancing the school's legacy and ensuring a world-class education for all students. Those who know her cite her commitment and force-of-nature energy as an inspiration to them, igniting their interest and involvement in Anderson activities. When she graduated, a formalized alumni network did not yet exist, and it would be many years until a well-established infrastructure would be in place. Over the years, while working at General Mills, the Dole Food Company and as founder of the Haase Consulting Group, she went about remedying the lack of an effective alumni organization. She devoted innumerable hours creating ways for people to stay connected - originally through maintaining an informal network of classmates, and ultimately by creating and promoting more formal alumni community building efforts. Under her leadership, the class of 1984 yielded the highest attendance level ever for a 25th annual reunion. Haase's alumni involvement also spans a wide range of activities, including on-campus recruiting, hiring summer interns, serving as an advisor to a field study team and as her class president. She's been an active participant in shaping the strategic plan of the alumni network and currently is the Chair of Marketing and Communications on the UCLA Anderson Alumni Network Board of Directors.
