Path-breaking Research in Psychology and Stock Price Movements

Avanidhar SubrahmanyamAn expert in behavioral finance and economics, Subrahmanyam is known for his path-breaking research in the use of psychological principles to explain stock price movements. He has used his behavioral expertise to explain spikes in gasoline prices, and he has studied the effect of war on the stock market.  He developed an extremely popular elective class in behavioral finance at the Anderson School. He has served as a consultant to several companies including the Nasdaq Stock Market, Deutsche Bank, and the National Stock Exchange in Mumbai (Bombay, India). He has served as an editor for prestigious journals in his field and has authored numerous refereed journal articles in leading finance and economics journals, winning several awards for his scholarly work. He is a member of the Working Research Group on Market Microstructure, established by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
