The African continent has gone through a tremendous amount of development, where in the last decade, an image of pessimism and economic stagnation has reversed to economic, social, and political optimism. This has prompted an increase in foreign direct investing and that trend is expected to continue. Within Africa as a whole, the North and West African regions have been gaining further foreign investment interest, especially from Europe and the U.S., due to the increase in political reform and high economic growth rates. This panel features professionals, executives and government officials that operate in and for Africa with a distinct focus on International trade and government and investor relations. Panelists will share their insights on the economic opportunities in Africa in general and specifically in the North and Western regions, and what makes those opportunities so attractive to the West.

Africa is now entering a new era. Marked with exploding mobile penetration in the region and in the continent as a whole, Africa has become more convergent than before. This situation has attracted international media players to expand in the continent to ride the boom wave of Africa that many recognize as the frontier market. On the other hand, the media industry also plays an important role facilitating knowledge and cultural transfer between Africa and the rest of the world. African films, music and news can now be seen, heard and read anywhere in the world because of the increasing role of media and telecommunications. This panel features founder and executives from media companies that operate in and for Africa with a distinct focus on current industry challenges and future potential. Panelists will share their experiences building networks and their successes and lessons learned cultivating the most potential continent in the world today.
