Thomas Wu is the founder and chairman of both Taishin Holdings and Taishin International Bank. Taishin International Bank was established in 1992 through a series of merger and equity exchange. Taishin Holdings was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan. Currently, Taishin Holdings has 6 subsidiaries which cross through banking, securities, bill finance, venture capital, asset management, and marketing consultants. In Taiwan, Taishin Holdings is ranked the second largest financial holding company.
In 2004, Taishin was named Overall Best-Managed Company in Taiwan and Overall Most Improved Company for Best Management Practices in Taiwan by Asiamoney. Mr. Wu was named the Best Executive Officer in Taiwan in the same year.
Mr. Wu is also an avid art and sports lover, which has motivated him to establish Taishin Bank Foundation for Arts and Culture to support and promote local artists and their creative works. He was recently invited by the Prime Minister to become a member of the Board for the National Theatre and Concert Hall.
Mr. Wu received a B.S. in chemistry from Fu Jen University in 1972 and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Commercial Science from St. John's University, New York.
