Mitchell Kupchak, MBA 1987
Brought in Talent That Led to Back-to-Back Titles for the LA Lakers
After a highly successful career playing basketball - he was an All-American at the University of North Carolina, a member of the gold medal-winning U.S. basketball team at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, and a member of three NBA championship teams - Mitch Kupchak wasted no time embarking on a second career. He went back to school to earn his MBA at UCLA Anderson, then began moving up the management hierarchy with the Los Angeles Lakers, for which he was a player on two championship teams. Today, Kupchak serves as general manager of the Lakers, responsible for bringing in the talent that has helped the team win titles in 2001, 2002, 2009 and 2010.
